According to Digital TV Research, Netflix will have nearly 70 million subscribers by the end of 2015.

The organisation's Global OTT TV & Video Forecasts report predicts that the number of its paying subscribers by the year end will reach 69.9 million, up from 54.48 million at the end of 2014.This will be a 28% increase on 2014's end of year total.

The UK is the second biggest take-up of the service with 4.942 million customers, having recently adopted the US pre-pay card initiative extending its service to consumers who don't have credit or debit cards. With the pay-as-you-go cards at £15, £25 or £50, consumers are able to redeem a card's value against an existing account or use it when they open a new one. The cards are stocked at physical UK retailers including Morrisons, ASDA, WHSmith, GAME and Argos.

By the end of 2016, it is expected that Netflix will be available in some 200 markets globally.
