ERA, the digital entertainment and retailers association, has announced that Julia Killer, Head of Music Label Partnerships, EMEA at Meta will deliver the keynote address at its annual conference taking place on Tuesday September 13 in London’s Kings Cross.

The focus of Killer’s session will be the road to the metaverse and the potential for virtual worlds which combine entertainment, work and social spaces.

Killer’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion on which she will be joined by representatives of Spotify, Epic Games and NFT collectibles specialist Serenade.

ERA CEO Kim Bayley said, ”From talking pictures and the vinyl LP to Blu-ray, technology has always driven the entertainment industry. In the latest chapter of that growth over the past decade streaming companies have delivered significant growth across the board, so it is only natural that ERA and its members should embrace the next great innovation, the metaverse. We are very much looking forward to hearing from Julia and other pioneers in the field.”

Julia Killer has spent the past three years at Meta, following a career at some of the music industry’s most ground-breaking digital companies. She joined Meta from Soundcloud where she was Director, Artist & Label Services. Previously she spent four years at 7digital, latterly as Head of Labels & Promotions following five years at Kobalt Music.

Julia Killer said, “I am delighted to be able to share with the ERA Conference Meta’s vision of the metaverse. It is still early days, but already we can see how it will be as transformative of all our lives as the advent of the internet itself.”

The ERA Conference will also include a helicopter view of the entertainment industry from entertainment data compiler Luminate, giving insights into consumer behaviours, preferences and attitudes to music, video and games and a series of presentations on the video industry in association with video industry trade body BASE.
